The Environmental Body

Amgen Environmental Body Limited is an organisation that was set up in 2003 to oversee the organisation and payments of monies that it receives in relation to the Landfill Communities Fund. Finances are received from Cynon Valley Waste Disposal Co ltd (Amgen Cymru).
The Board of Directors discusses proposals that are submitted and if required make site visits to view these in more detail. If the proposal matches the Object and Criteria as laid down by ENTRUST, an application form and supporting documentation is then completed and submitted for approval and to be awarded a registration number. Once the registration number is received, work on the project can commence, overseen by their appointed Project Manager.

Mission Statement

To provide professional advice, guidance and funding to ensure that community based projects that fulfil the ENTRUST criteria are completed to a high standard.

Landfill Communities Fund

In 1996 the Government introduced a tax on all waste being deposited in Landfill Sites and allowed a proportion of this money to be spent on community based projects. ENTRUST, a Government regulated body was set up to ensure that these projects met laid down criteria. This is still continuing and the amount that is now available is typically 6% of the monies charged for landfill tax by the waste management company. This percentage is reviewed annually by UK Government. As long as landfill tax funding is available the Environment Body will continue to support projects. ENTRUST continually audits both the Environmental Body and funded projects.

Documentation

All project documentation used is computerised and photographs on the basis of before/after are taken for future reference.
